'We're going to aim really high' - Group 1 races await impressive Thunder Kiss

Saturday: Cork

Thunder Kiss was always expected to be the star turn on the first day of the track’s three-day Easter festival in the Irish Stallion Farms Noblesse Stakes, but the manner in which she justified that billing could not have been more convincing.

The Ger Lyons-trained five-year-old put the race to bed in a few strides under Colin Keane and the daughter of Night Of Thunder will not be spending much more time in Listed company, according to the trainer's brother and assistant Shane.

He said: "We're absolutely delighted with her, she is a class filly, a year older and has really matured. She has all of the proper entries and we're going to aim her really high."

He added: "She will race from a mile and a quarter to a mile and a half and she excels with some cut in the ground. They didn't take her far enough today, she took it up two out and she looked around a bit. In a higher class race hopefully they can go a bit quicker and take her to the line.

"She's in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh next month and we will be looking as far as Champions Weekend as she has a great constitution."

Century up for McMonagle

It was a memorable day for Dylan Browne McMonagle as the victory of Ghasham in the 1m2f maiden gave him his 100th career winner.

Earlier in the day, the third race was delayed by just over half an hour when a racegoer was taken ill and had to be evacuated by air ambulance, but the lost time was made up by the final race.
