Three years on, 2,000 Guineas fifth Kentuckyconnection finally wins another race

When a horse finishes fifth in the 2,000 Guineas on his sixth start, it should be a springboard to much better things.
Sadly, horses are unpredictable and it doesn't always work out that way. For Kentuckyconnection, who was fifth and beaten just over five lengths by Galileo Gold in May 2016, it proved to be not so much a launchpad but the pinnacle of his career.
He has never shown that sort of form again. In fact, unlike the third in the race, Ribchester, who became a multiple Group 1 winner, Kentuckyconnection had 20 more runs without winning.
