Suedois holds on gamely to land Supreme Stakes at Goodwood

Suedois, who was prolific in the early part of his career in France, landed his first race in Britain at the age of eight under a canny ride from Danny Tudhope, but success in the Group 3 Supreme Stakes was lost on many at Goodwood.

That was because his thrilling success in the Weatherbys Racing Bank-sponsored 7f feature coincided with England's sensational Ashes Test victory at Headingley with racegoers crowded round television screens.

Suedois joined trainer David O'Meara three years ago and knocked on the Group 1 door throughout 2016, but did gain reward in the US with a Grade 1 win at Keeneland the following year.
