When previous Dash winner Duke Of Firenze obliged at York last weekend, he was automatically installed as the best chance of a winner in the race for trainer David Griffiths.

However, stablemate Ornate proved to be quickest over the flying five furlongs, racing home in 54 seconds dead to claim the valuable prize by a neck from Dark Shot.

Griffiths has made his name as a trainer who can keep older sprinters sweet for many a year, with previous flag-bearer Take Cover bowing out at the end of last season aged 11.
