On an eight-race card that was more quantity than quality, Emblazoned stood out from the crowd with an impressive victory under a winner’s penalty in the 6f novice stakes.

Jockey Robert Havlin said he “had another gear” when asking his John Gosden-trained partner to extend in the closing stages and it was enough to leave bookmakers revising their Commonwealth Cup markets.

“The boss had said to me in the last few days that he thought he was getting quicker,” said Havlin. “He’s quite a laid-back horse at home so he wouldn’t find his speed straight away but, after two runs, he’s clicked in.”
