Mick Appleby and John Gosden are locked in battle to be crowned top all-weather trainer this winter, and Appleby drew level on 38 winners following the success of Point Zero in the 6f handicap.

It was a third win at the track for the four-year-old, who made all by a length-and-a-quarter under Alistair Rawlinson. Appleby said: "He's quick and he did it well."

The All-Weather Championships come to an end on Good Friday, April 19, at Lingfield's Finals day and Appleby, who is making a staunch defence of his title, added: "We'll try our best. We've still got a fair few runners we can use."
