Pipe flying in the East Midlands as Umbrigado extends unbeaten run

David Pipe flew in from the West Country by helicopter and hit the ground running when Umbrigado justified even-money favouritism in the 1m7½f maiden hurdle.

The £160,000 purchase was extending his unbeaten record under rules to two when holding off the renewed effort of Khage in the straight.

Tom Scudamore's mount was always travelling like the winner and was backing up an impressive first start for the Pipe yard in a bumper at Uttoxeter.
