Charlie Appleby looks to have found his contender for the Group 1 Vincent O'Brien National Stakes this year after Master Of The Seas strode to an impressive success in the Group 2 bet365 Superlative Stakes.

Appleby has landed the last two runnings of the National Stakes on Irish Champions Weekend with the ill-fated Quorto and Pinatubo, whose produced the most stunning performance of his career to score at the Curragh last year.

Master Of The Seas appears to share a common trait with Pinatubo as well, according to Appleby, with the juvenile far from the flashiest horse at home on the gallops, something last season's champion juvenile is notorious for.
