Keeping an eye on the Irish calendar paid handsome dividends for Paul Midgley as the North Yorkshire-based trainer sent two horses over to Navan for a pair of sprint handicaps and won with both.

There were no half measures from Midgley. Irish champion Pat Smullen was booked for the speedy duo and he kept things simple on both. One Boy was sent off favourite for the 5f handicap and he fended off the hat-trick seeking Doonard Prince by half-a-length to register his fifth career success.
