How wonderful to be proved wrong by Pyledriver and his marvellous connections

The sort of thing that does not happen to people like William Muir, Chris Grassick and PJ McDonald very much did happen to them at Ascot on Saturday – and what a joy it was to witness.

Had we listened to what Muir was saying about Pyledriver, we might have thrown a few quid at the outsider of six in this King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

The vast majority of us did not. Not for the first time, we failed to properly respect the exceptionally high regard in which Pyledriver is held by his joint-trainer.
