The dictionary defines Edification as the 'improvement of somebody's mind or character'. It was therefore fitting that Gavin Ryan was the man who guided the Mark Fahey-trained gelding to victory in the valuable Ragusa Handicap.

The 20-year-old is widely regarded to be the most reformed rider in the Irish weighing room and gave Edification a typically outstanding ride.

The perennial slow starter needed to pass the entire field up the home straight but he picked them off one by one, eventually collaring Tartlette in the final few strides to score by a neck at 14-1.
