'He's absolutely thriving' - Flylikeaneagle continues Oisin Orr's hot spell
Thursday: Nottingham
Fresh from setting a new juvenile course record aboard The Platinum Queen at Goodwood on Wednesday, Oisin Orr was back in the saddle to guide Flylikeaneagle to victory in the 1m½f handicap.
Orr, who won the Alice Keppel Stakes on The Platinum Queen at the sunny South Downs, could not land the spoils for the same connections as Phoenix Beach could only manage second in the 6f maiden.
However, the jockey made the trip to the Midlands worthwhile after cruising to victory on the Lucinda Russell-trained five-year-old, who was recording his third win from four starts since switching yards last month.
"He's absolutely thriving," said Orr. "Ever since he came over [from Ireland] he's changed up his mind and maybe just the change of scenery has freshened him up. He's running really consistently and running very well."
On The Platinum Queen, he added: "She's a great filly. She's very fast. She does everything so easy, from the furlong pole when I asked her she quickened up, and she could be pretty good."
The Eagle has landed
Eagle's Way notched the third leg of a 15-day hat-trick in comfortable fashion, winning the 1m2f handicap by three and a quarter lengths under Luke Morris.
The Sir Mark Prescott-trained three-year-old maintained his unbeaten record since being gelded in December, supplementing victories at Brighton and Doncaster.
"He's a lovely, progressive horse," said Morris. "He's really improved from being gelded and just strengthening up from two to three. That's his third quick run, but he's going the right way and you'd hope there is still more to come."
