Clive Cox knows a good sprinter when he sees one and he knew very early on that Harry Angel was exciting. In Saturday's Mill Reef the rest of the world finally got to see what Cox witnesses each morning.

The fact that he was inserted as 8-1 joint-third favourite in Paddy Power's Commonwealth Cup book reflects just how impressive the son of the 2007 winner of this contest, Dark Angel, was in shedding his maiden tag as he powered his way to a two-and-a-half-length victory.

Races can be won in a variety of different ways, but this one was won at home. The last time Harry Angel was sighted he played up in the stalls at Goodwood and had to be withdrawn, and Cox was quick to heap praise on his team for all their hard work.
