Gillian Boanas back among the winners with great Escape

Trainer Gillian Boanas racked up just her fifth winner since taking over the licence at the famous Reveley yard at Lingdale last February when Crixus's Escape won the opening 2m novice hurdle under Brian Hughes.

It was the second time Crixus's Escape had contributed to the Boanas tally, as he had won a course-and-distance maiden hurdle when last seen in November.

Sent off second favourite behind Whoshotwho, a serial placer in similar events in recent months, Crixus's Escape appeared in trouble on the home turn, but by the time they jumped the last Hughes looked in control and always seemed so up the run-in, despite the narrow winning margin of just a neck.
