After three placed efforts this year the well-named Size Matters finally got off the mark with a gritty win in the 7f handicap.

The three-year-old from the Mark Walford yard had been tried over a variety of distances, though, curiously, seven furlongs wasn't one of them.

Under a well-judged ride from Jason Hart, who had travelled up from Yorkshire for just the one mount, he was in the first two throughout, and having been sent on three furlongs out saw his race out in fine style.
