George Boughey continues staggering start to the season with Dirty Rascal
It is only April but young trainer George Boughey is already three winners away from beating last season's tally as the revitalised Dirty Rascal ran out an easy winner of the 7f handicap at Leicester on Friday.
The five-year-old made every yard as he racked up a 24th winner of the year for the Newmarket trainer, at an impressive 26 per cent strike-rate.
Dirty Rascal could halve that gap, with plans to run him under a penalty next week, while the Victoria Cup at Ascot on May 8 is a potential big target.
Boughey said: "He was pretty impressive there. I'll have the programme book out and look for something.
"He ran in the seven-furlong race at Ascot last year when he was rated 94 and I'd like to see him back there. The track suits him. Hopefully, he can go to all those nice races and there's lots of options for him now. He's a fun horse."
One to watch
The last winner of the 1m4f novice stakes, Technician, went on to Group 1 glory in the Prix Royal-Oak and Friday's winner Law Of The Sea also made a big impression.
Under Benoit De La Sayette, the son of Golden Horn powered home for a stylish four-length success.
