Johnston team in 'great order' as double brings up rapid half-century
Even by Mark Johnston’s high standards, Britain’s winningmost trainer has his team in flying form, and the yard notched its 50th and 51st winners of the year with a double.
Successes for Kehailaan in the mile maiden and Silver Shade in the 1m4f handicap helped boost the stable’s tally, which includes Subjectivist’s notable victory in the Dubai Gold Cup at Meydan.
“Things are in great order,” said the trainer’s son and assistant Charlie. “Quite a few years ago I was at the Grand National meeting when we hit the 50, but I’d say this would be close to record timing for us.
"We've had a very good all-weather campaign and want to carry that onto the turf as the better races start to come around. Touch wood, all of our horses and jockeys are in good form so long may it continue."
Seventh heaven
The admirable Zylan made it seven course-and-distance victories at the Nottinghamshire track when bouncing back to his best to land the 6f handicap under Ben Sanderson for trainer Roger Fell.
