Frankie Dettori is the best jockey in the world, says old ally Saeed bin Suroor
Frankie Dettori was hailed "the best jockey in the world" by Saeed bin Suroor after the star rider completed a quickfire double with victory aboard Soft Whisper in the Listed Rosemary Stakes.
The jockey, who rides the fancied Magical Morning in the bet365 Cambridgeshire at the track on Saturday, got off the mark when winning the 7f maiden with Spinaround for John and Thady Gosden.
Dettori then struck aboard Godolphin's Soft Whisper, who powered clear to beat Maamora by a length and three-quarters for Bin Suroor.
"He's the best jockey in the world," said the trainer. "We've worked together for 30 years. He's a great jockey and I'm happy for him."
On Soft Whisper, Bin Suroor added: "She's doing well. The plan was to run her in the second half of the season after her Dubai campaign. She finished her race well and handled the ground better this time."
The jockey's first success was more comfortable, as Spinaround won by three and a quarter lengths from Al Jaddaf on his third start.
His joint-trainer, Thady Gosden, said: "He's run twice before and is still learning. He's run well over seven and hit the line well so there should be no problem stepping up to a mile. They got racing early enough, which probably helped us a little bit. He'll probably have one more run and we'll see if he improves for the step up to a mile."
