This new fixture, eight days on from Southwell's feature ladies' day, drew in a crowd of around 2,500 on a sun-drenched day in the Nottinghamshire countryside.

Course manager Mark Clayton said: "We haven't had any meeting on the Flat here the last couple of summers and our next Flat meeting is on October 22.

"When we bid for this we knew the ladies' day crowd came mostly from Mansfield and Newark, so we decided to pitch this day more at the Nottingham side."
