When a horse has three owners and the one who does not turn up to watch it run is the trainer, who is based less than 20 miles away, you might think that odds of 33-1 are, if anything, a bit skinny.

Horses do not read much into these signs, luckily enough for Anthony Kelvin and Mason Glass, owners of Memories Galore who landed the feature sprint handicap in the absence of the final co-owner, trainer Roger Fell.

Memories Galore failed to beat a single rival on his first two starts for the yard, but took a step forward in cheekpieces last time and confirmed his revival here, beating the veteran Bogart, who could not have found many more unfortunate ways to mark the fourth anniversary of his last win, which came at York's Ebor festival.
