Richard Phillips: celebrated an emotional victory at Uttoxeter on Tuesday

Two lifelong friends embraced in the winner’s enclosure at Uttoxeter on Tuesday as they realised a dream they had shared for more than 50 years.

“Since we were four we’ve been friends and I’ve waited for this day all my life,” gushed Jon Dadswell, who finally got to celebrate owning a winner trained by his great mate Richard Phillips. “It’s fantastic and I love him so much.”

Dadswell was one of the jubilant Hopeful Travellers, who had watched their Present From Dubai triumph for the first time in the 2m handicap hurdle under a good ride from jockey Daniel Hiskett.
