Moore thrilled as Clemmie emerges from her brother's shadow

The days of Clemmie being referred to only as 'Churchill's sister' look numbered after she stormed to victory in the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes.

Aidan O'Brien's filly really got motoring the further she went and cut down front-running market rival Nyaleti on the climb to the line

Emulating her stablemate Roly Poly 12 months ago, the 11-8 favourite had come straight from winning a Group 3 at the Curragh just 12 days previously and impressed, many including her part-owner Michael Tabor and winning jockey Ryan Moore.

Also impressed were the bookmakers, most of all Coral, who cut Clemmie to 7-1 (from 16) for next year's Qipco 1,000 Guineas behind stablemate September, whose Classic chances were also enhanced as she had defeated Nyaleti in similar fashion at Royal Ascot. Clemmie is a general 8-1 for next year's Classic.

Tabor, winning the race for the third time, said: "You have to be impressed with that, and the way she won you'd have to think six furlongs plus would suit her.

"She's a filly to look forward to and hopefully she could get a mile next year, like her brother. I don't know where we'll go next with her, but something like the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh could suit."

Reflecting on September, he added: "Obviously September is a nice filly also and we did notice the filly she beat there ran a good race today. They are both good types and these are high-class problems to have."

Moore was glowing in his praise of Clemmie: "She's the best [two-year-old] filly we've seen out this year. She has the trainer, the pedigree and everything is right for her next year."

Mark Johnston won this race with subsequent 1,000 Guineas winner Attraction in 2003 but had to settle for second with Nyaleti this time.

He said: "We were hoping we would beat the winner. I could see all the way through that Clemmie was a danger. We've run a great race. William Buick said he thought he was going to win it but the other came from behind him."
