Brian Hughes failed to win on any of his four Sedgefield mounts as he missed the opening day of the Cheltenham Festival to chase a first jockeys' title.

However, with Richard Johnson stood down for the rest of day after being unseated from Brewin’upastorm in the Racing Post Arkle and forced to miss his other two booked rides, Hughes maintained his 20-winner advantage. The current scores read 138 and 118.

Hughes, who has struck 15 times at Sedgefield this season, looked likely to extend his lead over Johnson when Get In Robin, backed from 2-1 to 11-8 in the closing mares' bumper, powered down the final hill in front.
