A double for 5lb claimer Theodore Ladd was tainted by the jockey receiving suspensions totalling 19 days for his winning rides on Whenapoet and Love Rat.

Riding 15-8 second favourite Whenapoet to victory in the opening mile nursery, Ladd was unable to prevent his mount from hanging left, causing interference to several of his rivals.

The stewards judged that Ladd was guilty of careless riding and gave him a suspension of three days. Add to that the use of his whip above the permitted level and the rider was given a further nine-day ban.
