Richard Newland couldn't hide his delight after Beau Bay stormed to victory in the Grand Sefton Handicap Chase to continue his trainer's love affair with the Grand National fences.

Beau Bay, a 20-1 chance, had finished third in the race last year and made use of that experience to draw clear of long-time leader Sir Jack Yeats for a five-length victory, with the Paul Nicholls-trained Modus a creditable third.

Newland, who co-owns the nine-year-old with Peter Green, trained Pineau De Re to National glory in 2014 and Silver Adonis to win the Fox Hunters' Chase over the big fences ten years ago.
