Electric Elliott rounds off incredible week with 186-1 five-timer

There is a chance that weeks like this will become commonplace for Gordon Elliott. For now they still have enough novelty value about them to make him pinch himself, rather than wonder why they’re not happening if they don’t.

After winning the trainers’ title at Cheltenham, he probably wouldn’t have chosen anywhere else to round off the week than his old stomping ground at Navan, a track where he has been utterly dominant all season.

It was a familiar story. He had runners in six races, won five of them and took his tally of winners at the track this season to 20, which of course included that magnificent six-timer on Troytown day in November. Almost three full meetings. Just let that statistic sink in.
