Alpha Centauri ranks an average winner of Irish 1,000 Guineas

Alpha Centauri relished the return to better ground to land the Irish 1,000 Guineas with a big career best RPR of 114.
She disappointed on bad ground on her previous two starts but was back on song to post a rating which ranks her just 1lb behind 1,000 Guineas heroine, and Coronation Stakes second favourite, Billesdon Brook.
The winner kept on strongly on her first run over a mile to finish a length and three-quarters ahead of Could It Be Love (110), who faded late after carrying a healthy lead into the straight.
