Will she be worth the wait after nearly three years off the course?

3.45 Ffos LasBet ToteTrifecta At Betfred.com Maiden Stakes | 3yo+ | 1m3f209y | ATR

When the owners picked out the name I'mwaitingforyou for their new horse they could have been forgiven for thinking they were tempting fate.

And so it has proved, with connections facing not one but two lengthy delays while waiting for the daughter of Needwood Blade to get to the races and to then show herself in the best light.

Originally running for Pamela Morgan, I'mwaitingforyou participated in three bumpers and two maidens in the summer and autumn of 2014 before disappearing off the scene.

Until now, that is. The eight-year-old is back in action for owner Simon Morgan after 1,041 days off, lining up in a 1m4f maiden at Ffos Las on Tuesday under jockey George Downing.

Peter Bowen took charge of I'mwaitingforyou during her first spell on the track and is the man responsible for her career once again; not that he expects too much from her.

"She wouldn't be good enough to win a maiden but she'll have a handicap mark after this and we can see what we can find for her," Bowen said. "There's been nothing wrong with her. She didn't show much before so they stopped her and now they've decided to have another go to see what she can do."

Remarkably, I'mwaitingforyou is neither the oldest nor the longest absentee for this race. Still Believing makes his Flat debut aged nine, while Freedom Fighter returns to action after a break of 1,869 days.
