Thistlecrack's younger brother West Approach is arguably the most intriguing name on what promises to be a highly informative Cheltenham card.

The six-year-old has long been spoken of in glowing terms by trainer Colin Tizzard and takes the first step of his new season on a path connections hope will lead back to Prestbury Park in March when he tackles six rivals in the Richard Allen, Waters & The Brittons Novices’ Hurdle (2.25).

Smooth winner of a Newton Abbot novice hurdle in May, West Approach is reported in great shape for his reappearance.
