Tonight's racing: three runners who catch the eye at Chelmsford and Dundalk
An evening of excitement on the all-weather at Chelmsford and Dundalk, with 16 races spread across the two courses. Dundalk starts first at 5.30pm followed by Chelmsford 15 minutes later. Both meetings are on At The Races, and here are three horses to watch
Big Baz
6.45 Chelmsford
Big Baz has been a smashing horse for connections. The seven-year-old is a seven-time winner, including a Listed race, and reached a highest rating of 113.
He has dropped a bit in the handicap since then – he races off 91 tonight – but has still performed admirably in decent handicaps on the turf and the all-weather recently.
Dropped into claiming company, Big Baz looks to have an excellent opportunity to gain his first win for almost exactly two years.
Cliffs Of Capri
7.15 Chelmsford
The Melbourne 10 syndicate have assembled a strong team for the All-Weather Championships this winter, including the unexposed Cliffs Of Capri.
Picked up for 50,000gns at the sales last month, Cliffs Of Capri caught the eye of buyers with a thumping three-length win at Kempton last time, his second win from three starts – all of which have been on the all-weather.
He is up 8lb for that victory on his first start for new connections, and a victory or a good performance tonight could pave the way for an exciting winter.
Vienna Circle
8.30 Dundalk
There would not be too many Godolphin horses who stay in the blue silks when rated only 67.
However, if Vienna Circle can be coaxed into the winner’s enclosure then she will be an excellent addition to Sheikh Mohammed’s broodmare band, so persistence is key.
The daughter of Teofilo has been placed on her last two starts, both on the all-weather, and she steps up in trip to a mile and a half to try and make it third-time lucky tonight.
