• LEADING LADIES:Magical and defending champion Sistercharlie are set for a spine-tingling Santa Anita showdown in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf on Saturday week after Aidan O'Brien confirmed his Champion Stakes heroine would be sticking to her own sex in the States.

• LOOSE HORSE DRAMA:The Richard Spencer-trained Jean Valjean escaped serious injury but was left with cuts after crashing through a running rail at Yarmouth and escaping on to the adjacent golf course.

• BOWING OUT: Waldgeist looks unlikely to be among the European contingent bound for the Breeders' Cup at Santa Anita next week, with the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner almost certainly set to bow out on that glorious winning note.
