What will it take to prise the covers off you this weekend when all is dark and cold and icy outside?

How about classy jumps action from across Britain? Provided, of course, the covers spread out across the expanses of Cheltenham and Doncaster racecourses have done their jobs and kept Jack Frost at bay for another night.

The sub-zero temperatures that have forced some meetings to be cancelled, threaten others and caused us all to have runny noses seem to have arrived with a particularly unfair swiftness, given we have barely got over an unseasonably warm autumn and still yearn for proper volumes of rain to replenish depleted water tables.
