Many multiple winners of this great race, which has its origins in the early 19th century, are firmly entrenched in racing folklore.

Le Moss, successful in 1979 and 1980, was a brilliant stayer, fellow dual scorer Yeats (2006 and 2008) oozed sheer class and pure power, while Persian Punch, the 2001 and 2003 winner, was a great character with tremendous natural ability.

Double Trigger is a Goodwood legend, having landed the staying feature on three occasions in 1995, 1997 and 1998.
