Little Jo 6lb well-in

Little Jo, who creeps in at the bottom of the weights, has made rapid improvement since undergoing wind surgery and being fitted with cheekpieces, recording form figures of 2111.

He won with any amount in hand on the all-weather at Newcastle last time and is officially 6lb well-in for this early-closing race under a 4lb penalty.

Trainer Brian Ellison has every reason to expect a bold show and said: “I didn’t think he’d get in. Obviously I’m glad he did – we’ve quietly fancied him for the race for quite a while.

“He’s done nothing but improve this summer and is well at home. He wasn’t stopping over a mile at Newcastle, so the longer trip shouldn’t bother him.”

Everything For You ahead of handicapper too

Everything For You, who stayed on strongly to score by four and a half lengths in soft ground at Haydock this month, is 1lb well-in under a 4lb penalty.

Adam Ryan, assistant to his father Kevin, said: “He’s improved hand over fist with his runs this year.

“He won well last time and the step back in trip shouldn’t prove a bother. They always go a decent clip in races like this and hopefully he’ll run well.”

We’re stretching back up in trip again but he has won over a mile and a quarter. I'm not sure why he had an off day at Leicester last time. He has won at Newmarket and I'm hopeful of a good effort.

We think he needs further than a mile. He's fresh and happy, and looks good in his coat. He ran very well at Goodwood in the Golden Mile and a mile and a furlong at Newmarket should be perfect for him. He’ll handle the ground and should run a good race.

The handicapper has him in his grip off his present mark, but he ran well at Sandown last time and seems much more versatile ground-wise nowadays. You can never be confident in a race of this nature, but he’s in good form at home and should run another sound race.

David Menuisier, trainer of History Writer
He won well at Sandown last time. Ideally I would have preferred a draw in the middle to give us options, but I think he’ll be suited by this type of race. He has long given us the feeling that he’s quite a good horse.

He’s been very consistent all year. It looks his type of race – a big field in which he can be held up for a late run – and the ground will be perfect for him.

Declan Carroll, trainer of Save The Bees
He’s been a cracking horse for us and retains plenty of ability. He ran well at Redcar the other day and won at Haydock in the summer. It’s a tough, competitive race, but he deserves to take his chance.

Hughie Morrison, trainer of Escape The City
She ran very well the other day and coming back in trip may not be a problem as nine furlongs at Newmarket probably equates to ten at most other places. She’s not very big, but she has got 8st 8lb in a competitive handicap and that’s what she thrives on.
