Newbury and Newcastle latest: Jacob enduring tricky passage to Ladbrokes Trophy
Daryl Jacob is set to ride Borice in the Ladbrokes Trophy (3.00) at Newbury this afternoon but the jockey's day has not got off to the best of starts after he was left stuck in Wolverhampton due to fog.
Jacob was due to partner Ballymoy in the opening beginners' chase at Bangor but his helicopter was unable to reach the Welsh venue due to the weather.
As a result he was forced to abandon his journey in the West Midlands and switch his attention to Newbury, where he partners 14-1 chance Borice in a bid to replicate his 2010 victory in the race aboard Diamond Harry.
He is then due to team with the Warren Greatrex-trained outsider Dicosimo in the following 2m½f handicap chase.
Going update Nico de Boinville guided Floressa to victory in the Listed mares' novice hurdle and said: "It's dried out a bit more from yesterday and is lovely ground."
The going is good to soft, soft in places at the Berkshire track, with the temperature currently at 3C.
Meanwhile West Approach is the current 6-1 favourite to land the Ladbrokes Trophy having been as big as 11-1 last night.
The Colin Tizzard-trained nine-year-old was a three-length victor at Cheltenham two weeks ago and bids to follow that up under Robbie Power.
Meanwhile last night's favourite Ok Corral has been on the drift, now available at a double-digit price for his seasonal reappearance, but one of Nicky Henderson's other runners has received support throughout the morning and is 8-1.

Newcastle gets nod for Fighting Fifth meeting
Newcastle's flagship meeting was in jeopardy with the temperature below zero throughout the night, but the use of fleeces and sheets to cover the track prevented frost from impacting the heavy ground.
The Nicky Henderson-trained Buveur D'Air continues to shorten for the Fighting Fifth Hurdle (2.05), the course's sole Grade 1 race, with the JP McManus-owned eight-year-old a general 3-10 shot to land the hat-trick.
If he is successful, he will be the first horse since Comedy Of Errors between 1972 and 1974 to win three consecutive Fighting Fifths.
Barry Geraghty will be in the saddle, and said: "He feels really well, he's schooled well, and if he's better than last year it'll be brilliant.
"He's done plenty of work and been kept busy so fingers crossed. He's versatile on ground so that shouldn't be an issue. We'll have to wait and see how it pans out."
Evan Williams takes Buveur D'Air on with Silver Streak, the clear second-favourite in the betting, and the trainer is delighted with the efforts of Newcastle's staff in ensuring the meeting goes ahead.
He said: "They haven’t done a good job, they’ve done an exceptional job! It is an absolute credit to them. But it will be hard work."
Clerk of the course James Armstrong added: "We did everything we could do. We had 50 extra staff in this morning to lift the frost sheets. The covers worked and the saving grace is that we have only had one meeting. It's fresh ground but it's heavy ground."
