The anthropomorphisation of horses is best kept away from hard-headed analysis. Horse psychology, beyond purely athletic applications (can it be bothered?), is more likely to cloud judgement than illuminate. Even so, the temptation to describe Battaash as charismatic is overwhelming.

At any one time there is usually one horse in training whose every run feels like a significant event. At the moment Battaash is that horse, every bit as much as the history-hunting Enable.
