Ayr Gold Cup Trial Handicap | 6f | 3yo+ | RTV

One of the key formlines to unlocking this big-field puzzle is the course-and-distance handicap last month in which Call Me Ginger beat Jordan Electrics a head.

In theory, the winner should have little trouble confirming the form on 8lb better terms, but the likelihood of faster ground this time will suit Jordan Electrics, who subsequently sluiced up by two and three-quarter lengths at Hamilton before finishing an excellent second at York to Good Earth.

In a nutshell, it is hard to argue that Jordan Electrics has ever been better during his career, and he seems sure to make another bold bid.

Everything panned out perfectly for Toussarok at Epsom last time. He sat a six-length second to Pablo Del Pueblo, who went off at a ridiculous pace early in the straight, and was in pole position to assume command when the leader inevitably succumbed over a furlong out.

He has been raised only 2lb and will surely remain highly competitive.

Topweight Aberama Gold, who seemed sharper for the fitting of a first-time visor at Ayr last time, meets his head conqueror Quest For Fun on 1lb better terms.

What they say

Richard Spencer, trainer of Bernardo O'Reilly
He travelled up on Sunday, so all being well he's in good shape for the race. He won on his seasonal debut and the handicapper did us no favours by sticking him up quite a lot. It's been no easy task on his last few starts, so hopefully he can run well and it's not bad prize-money. I think the clerk is happy with the ground and they'll continue watering, so it should stay as close to good as they can, which would be ideal.

Jim Goldie, trainer of Call Me Ginger
He likes the course and the distance and I'm fairly confident he'll run a nice race. He goes on the ground and it's just down the road for us, so he won't have to travel in any heat. I think you could tick every box. If he gets the run of the race he'll go close.

Ewan Whillans, trainer of Jordan Electrics
He's a course-and-distance winner and the ground will suit him. It's a case of the quicker, the better for him. He's in good form and is up another 2lb from finishing second at York in a competitive race. He should go there and run his race and we're hoping he'll be there come the last furlong. I couldn't be happier with him at home and this could be his opportunity to win a decent race. It'll be a hot race and hard to win, but he's got a chance.
