Expert analysis and trainer quotes for a competitive sprint handicap at Yarmouth

An interesting handicap and one where it might be best to focus on the two last-time-out winners, Badri and Lady Eleanor, who revert to sprinting after scoring over 7f.
Badri, a son of Dark Angel, only got up near the finish on his first venture into handicaps at Lingfield in February and can race off just 4lb higher as a result.
He has reportedly pleased Charlie Hills this summer, and looks open to further improvement on the fifth start of his career.
All three of Lady Eleanor’s starts have been over 7f, most recently when denying Thowq by a short head over this course on her reappearance last month.
It’s hard to judge whether an opening mark of 82 is justified, but she did have fillies from the William Haggas, Andrew Balding and Sir Michael Stoute stables back in second, third and fourth places that day and you get the impression there is plenty more to come. Judged on breeding, the drop in trip could be taken as a plus.
The Richard Hughes-trained Mister Snowdon contests his first handicap off 89 after finishing 11th of 13 behind Molatham in the Group 3 Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot.
He had landed his two previous starts – one at Yarmouth – in the manner of a useful sort, and it would be no surprise if he resumed winning ways.
Hughes referred to him as a “pretty good horse” prior to the Jersey, and the son of Lethal Force has the scope to get better and better as the season progresses.

What they say
Robert Cowell, trainer of Ishvara
A little cut helps her as she has lots of pace but not the speed on faster ground. I keep dipping her toes in black type races as I am sure there is more to come. Her recent trip up to Ayr was quite a punishing one as we did it all in one day, due to the coronavirus restrictions. She’s back in handicap company this time.
Charlie Hills, trainer of Badri
He’s been well all season, but there just haven’t been the races for him; it’s been a bit frustrating, really. It’s a competitive race, but he should run very well. He’s won his last two and has a fair bit of boot.
James Fanshawe, trainer of Lady Eleanor
She comes from a sprinting family so going back to six furlongs won’t bother her. It’s her first run in a handicap, and she’s well.
Michael Bell, trainer of Bushtucker Trial
He looks to have come on for his first run of the season at Pontefract last month. It’s a competitive race, but hopefully he might get a slice of the action.
