Going news and punting pointers for 1,000 Guineas day at Newmarket
There was a familiar feeling as Aidan O'Brien claimed yesterday's Qipco 2,000 Guineas with Saxon Warrior and having won both Newmarket Classics last season, the master trainer bids for a 'double double' as the fillies strut their stuff in the 1,000 Guineas.
Happily leads a four-strong Ballydoyle team with Ryan Moore jetting back from partnering Mendelssohn in the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs to take the ride on last season's two-time Group 1 winner.
1,000 Guineas card and betting
The ladies really do take centre stage at Newmarket with the main supporting races, the Group 2 Charm Spirit Dahlia Stakes and Listed Tweenhills Pretty Polly Stakes, confined to fillies and mares.
Hamilton has a rare outing on terrestrial TV with the 1m5f handicap (2.55) forming part of the ITV coverage and Dundalk completes the Flat action. Towcester stages the second day of the British jumps season, while they also go over obstacles at Sligo.

Final thought
Godolphin were again left in the shade by Coolmore on the Classic front yesterday but consolation came in the form of a fantastic four-timer from Charlie Appleby at Newmarket. The powerful team look poised for another productive afternoon with a host of strong chances on the Rowley Mile.
