Four things to look out for on Bank Holiday Monday

You may not see a better horse all season than Minding. You will certainly struggle to see a better filly because Minding is the best.

Last year she won two Classics (1,000 Guineas and Oaks) among a Group 1 haul of five. She ended the season with a thumping victory dropped back to a mile in the QEII Stakes on Champions Day before being named Cartier Horse of the Year.

She returns in the Group 2 Camelot Irish EBF Mooresbridge Stakes at Naas (3.55) and will take the beating despite this being just a starting point for her.

Aidan O’Brien often uses this race as a springboard for his top runners with Found, Magician, Camelot, So You Think and Fame And Glory all capturing this contest.

Top-level action

While Minding may be the best horse running anywhere on Monday, the biggest race of the day takes place at Saint-Cloud in the shape of the Group 1 Prix Ganay (3.00).

Zarak and Cloth Of Stars lead the way, the latter coming into the race off the back of a good win at Chantilly last time.

He is one of two Godolphin runners in the race with Hawkbill set to represent trainer Charlie Appleby. His form from last summer is certainly eyecatching.

Windsor raid

So the jumps season starts again after just the one day off but while most jumps horses are carrying on as if nothing happened, Sternrubin at least appreciates it is time for a change.

The classy hurdler switches back to the Flat for the first time in 1,094 days at Windsor and what’s more, he is making his handicap debut in the 1m3½f handicap (4.55).

Perhaps trainer Philip Hobbs is out to earn everyone a bit of summer holiday spending money with this under the radar trip?

Top hats and tails?

There is a long way to go until Royal Ascot but those associated with Rock Of Estonia will be hoping their colt can take a step closer to the meeting with victory at Bath.

A good winner on debut at Windsor and by sire-to-watch Society Rock, Rock Of Estonia takes on five rivals at Bath (4.00) and will be out to confirm his promising first impression.

The two-year-old action at Naas is also well worth a watch, especially the conditions race (2.45). Aidan O’Brien looks to have two strong options in Dali and US Navy Flag, a son of the brilliant mare Misty For Me.
