I'm against him. Connections should have run him in the Grand National instead of the Bowl against some proven top-class chasers, albeit none of whom standout on figures or recent form.

Tiger Roll hasn't run in a race over standard fences since November 2017 when he was pulled up in the Clonmel Oil Chase. Although he was a pretty useful novice, it's a big ask to win this Grade 1 prize when all of his recent form has come in cross-country events or on the Grand National course.

It would be great to see him run well, especially after his memorable Cheltenham victory, but he is certainly not a betting proposition.

'It's hard to have any confidence in Tiger Roll'

For all that this is a terrible Grade 1, it’s hard to have any confidence in Tiger Roll. He hasn’t run over regulation fences since 2017 and for good reason – because he’s not a genuine Grade 1 horse.

They don’t usually hang around in this race and the worry would be that Tiger Roll will not have the tactical pace to stay in contention.

Yes, all of his old spark was there when he bolted up in the cross country at Cheltenham, but comparing that form with what’s required here is a completely different ball game.

If he can jump around and finish in the money it would be a good result.

'I'm not convinced he achieved much last time'

I've had my fingers burnt by Tiger Roll countless times since he won the Triumph Hurdle in 2014 so I wouldn't be surprised if he made a fool out of me again but I'm against him.

I would love to see him win but this poses a different test to the Grand National and I'm not convinced he achieved all that much when winning the Cross Country last time. You could argue Easysland ran well below form on ground too quick while the rest would be lapped in a race like this.

I'm informed Aintree's park fences are quite stiff, so he won't get away with nudging them like he can do with the spruce obstacles, too.
