A season without racegoers was never going to be quite the same as normal, and this strange campaign will culminate in an even stranger occurrence when dual Grand National winner Tiger Roll competes in his first Grade 1 chase instead of bidding to emulate the great Red Rum.
As far as decisions go, the one by Tiger Roll’s owners Gigginstown House Stud not to allow their superstar to compete on Saturday is probably the most disappointing I can remember and their reasoning – that he had been given a “patently unfair” weight – was blown out of the water when Tiger Roll sauntered to victory in the Cross Country at Cheltenham.
