Can hat-trick seeking Lequinto kick off a big week for trainer Tony Carroll?

Monday: 6.25 Windsor
Fitzdares Sprint Series Final Handicap | 6f | 3yo+ | Sky

A ferociously competitive sprint handicap, not surprising since it carries guaranteed prize-money of £75,000.

It’s a big week for trainer Tony Carroll, who always excels at the three-day Brighton festival, and many will expect him to make an early splash with Lequinto.

The five-year-old couldn’t be in better shape, having won his last two starts over course and distance, but will need to defy a career-high mark of 92.

That’s 4lb more than for his latest success, which was achieved only by a short head from King Of Jungle, but further improvement couldn’t be ruled out.

Low-mileage four-year-old Get It, winner of two of his four starts this season, steps up to six furlongs for the first time.

This course winner, who was sent off 4-1 third-favourite for the Weatherbys Super Sprint as a juvenile, continues to go the right way.

Robert Cowell’s exploits with sprinters are well documented and his Isle Of Lismore took a step back in the right direction when beating Colombe by half a length over five furlongs at this course last month.

That was on soft ground, though, and most of his best form has been achieved with some ease underfoot.

Roger Teal was out of luck with Whenthedealinsdone in Saturday’s Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood, but Chipstead gives him reasonable claims of a big payday.

The four-year-old thrived on firm ground at Bath last summer, recording three consecutive wins in August and September, and is now 1lb lower than when netting his hat-trick.

What they say

Clive Cox, trainer of Get It
He’s got plenty of speed and this is a step up in trip but he has course form and the prize money is so good. He’s progressing well.

Mick Appleby, trainer of Danzeno
He was a little unlucky when second at this course on his penultimate run and the handicapper has dropped him 3lb. If he can reproduce that form he has a decent chance.

Tony Carroll, trainer of Lequinto
He has a good draw in stall five and I have to be hopeful, though he's gone up 4lb for his narrow win last time and it's getting more difficult.

Simon Hodgson, trainer of Total Commitment
He looks like he’s coming back to some kind of form and he ran well last time at Southwell. He’s had a few problems but he should go well.

Stuart Kittow, trainer of Beyond Equal
He’s come down in the weights and is on his last winning mark. The ground is well watered so that will be fine, but it’s not a great draw.

George Boughey, trainer of Navello & Colombe
Navello's wins have been at around five furlongs but I’m looking forward to seeing him back over six and we have to have a go. Colombe gets in off a lightweight and she is trying six furlongs for the first time. She would appreciate a bit of rain.

David Evans, trainer of Cuban Breeze
It’s not going to be easy in such a big field but she’s in good form and goes on any ground.

Rae Guest, trainer of Aramis Grey
We’ve had this race in mind for a while. Her mark is fair and she goes into the race with every chance.

Ed Dunlop, trainer of Sterling Knight
He’s in great form and has been freshened up. He’s shown already that he acts at Windsor, having won and finished third.

Roger Teal, trainer of Chipstead
He’s back on a winning mark and we're claiming 5lb. His wins have been over shorter but I don’t think six furlongs will be a problem.

Ed de Giles, trainer of Treacherous
He’s on a lower mark than when beaten a short head last year but he needs a fast pace.
