Apprentices battle it out for place in Abu Dhabi series final

Ten apprentices from around the world will be aiming to secure a place in the final of the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Apprentice World Championship Series in Abu Dhabi with victory in the British leg of the challenge at Lingfield today.

The £16,955 (€20,000) contest for pure-bred Arabians is the penultimate leg of the challenge with the final on November 13 and there are a number of riders jostling for position in the standings.

Leading the way is American Corey Mongan, 32, who has been given the additional boost of drawing Karar, winner of the last two runnings of the British stage of the challenge, to ride.
