Pipe positive Moon can prove a star over hurdles

Former champion bumper winner Moon Racer is all set to make his eagerly awaited hurdling debut in the next few weeks after pleasing trainer David Pipe in his recent homework.

Speaking at his owners' day, Pipe said: "The plan with Moon Racer will be to go for a novice hurdle at the end of this month or early October - depending on the ground - as he has been working well and then we will take it from there."

Moon Racer landed the Champion Bumper at the festival in 2015, but was sidelined all last season before reappearing at Punchestown last April where he was arguably an unlucky runner-up behind Blow By Blow in a Grade 1 bumper.
