The owners of Johnny Barnes have paid tribute following the death of the Bermudian national hero after whom the Group 3 winner is named.

Barnes, a well known and much-loved figure in Bermuda’s capital, Hamilton, died last Saturday at the age of 93.

Bermuda Thoroughbred Racing Limited named an Acclamation colt Johnny Barnes in honour of the legendary local, who for 30 years waved cheerily at commuters every morning by the Crow Lane roundabout.
