So Des Flos leads the way for highly promising Elliott newcomers

Slanagaibhgoleir Trainer: Gordon Elliott
Seventh, 2m four-year-old maiden hurdle, Leopardstown, December 26
The unexposed horses at the disposal of Gordon Elliott for the second-half of the season might ensure he doesn't suffer any barren periods. His prospects dominate this week's column, beginning with this son of Beat Hollow.

Slanagaibhgoleir made an early mistake on his racecourse debut and never got into contention. The fact the low-lying sun prevented the last flight from being jumped might well have helped his cause as he ran on to good effect to finish an eyecatching seventh, beaten 22 lengths.

His pedigree suggests he will stay further, and he is capable of above-average improvement.
