The festive period is finally over and the BHA is already counting down the days until Santa visits once more.

The organisation has been quick to voice its desire to build on ITV's inaugural Christmas Festival, which showcased six days of racing between Boxing Day and New Year's Day, with the hope to push coverage to a full week in the future.

A large part of its reasoning is likely driven by the positive reception from bookmakers, who reported significant betting turnover thanks to competitive cards and top-quality action.
