I write regarding the recent comments by Richard Hughes and Lee Mottershead concerning the fixture list for 2017 and the impact it will have on an already stretched staff.

While I would like to make it clear the National Association of Stable Staff is of the opinion there is too much racing for the horse population and, more importantly, for the staff trying to accommodate it, that is not the only problem.

I agree with Emma-Jayne Wilson, who said of the Shergar Cup “this is a show”. That’s exactly what racing is – a show. We are selling enter­tain­ment and, as such, it is vital we put that show on
the road when the public can best access it.
