Work-watcher Jean Bucknell recognised by tree where Frankel outsped train

A significant tree planting recently took place in Newmarket to mark the passing of Jean Bucknell, the last of the great work-watchers who died in April, aged 81.

The location of the tree is also significant as it is next to the Al Bahathri Polytrack gallop where Jean watched all the greats work for more than 30 years.

Jean was among the few to witness the famous 'Frankel overtakes a train' workout in 2011 so it is fitting her tree is also close to the adjacent Newmarket to Bury St Edmunds railway line.
